DIAMONDS
WHAT ARE THE 4C'S ?
Like a fingerprint each diamond has certain characteristics that set it apart. The 4Cs are the globally recognized standards for assessing the quality of a diamond.
There are 4 main features you should consider when choosing your diamond.
- CARAT
- COLOR
- CLARITY
- CUT
Carat
It is the most important feature that determines the value of the diamond. It is also the unit of weight of a diamond. 1 carat= 0,2 grams. The carat indicates the weight of a diamond, not its size. We have diamonds of every carat size in our inventory.
Color
There are 20 colors of diamonds ranging from D to Z. Color D is the whitest diamond color in nature. As we approach the Z color we begin to see shades of yellow in the diamond. The color H is the last class of white shades. We have all colors in stock. Color refers to the natural shade of transparency of diamonds. The closer a diamond is to transparency, the higher its color and the rarer it is. For color grading, it's best to examine each stone over several days with different eyes and assign a letter value between "D"(transparent) and "Z" (light yellow)
Clarity
A diamond's clarity is a measure of the stone's purity and rarity and is graded according to the viability of these features under a magnifying glass. A stone is classified as flawless if no traces are visible under a magnifying glass.
Cut
The cut is the most important of the 4C's and shows how a diamond's facets (lines) interact with light. It is determined by symmetry, proportions and cut. More than any other factor, the cut determines the beauty of the diamond. If a diamond is poorly cut, it will appear dull, even if has high color and clarity. When a diamond is well cut, it reflects the most light and sparkles.
